Presbyopia and accommodation

From a certain age, almost everyone needs reading glasses for near and with consequent inconvenience and embarrassment that entails. Presbyopia, familiarly called "sight" is the result of the loss of accommodation, the physiological capacity allows us to maintain a clear image of an object as it approaches us. Above 40 years of presbyopia is becoming more evident, until the accommodation reaches its minimum at 65. Today, in addition to reading glasses, bifocals and progressive lenses are bi-or multifocal. The surgical solution passes through the intraocular lens (IOL) bi-focal, multifocal and variable focal corneal techniques for presbyopia, ranging from the mono-vision, by standard procedures with laser (LASIK or similar type) correcting a eye for each distance, to the creation of bi-or multifocal corneas (presbyLASIK).
