Cornea guttata and Fuchs' Dystrophy

Cornea_guttata
This two corneal disorders that occur with some frequency, have different medical evaluation. Generally, the second is a consequence of the progress of the first. Fuchs' dystrophy affects the corneal endothelium, which is the deepest layer of the cornea and whose cells are responsible for maintaining corneal transparency, with the consequence of the cornea thickening, edema and loss of transparency of it. When vision is compromised significantly, the only solution is anterior lamellar corneal transplantation, in which healthy endothelium is transplanted from a donor.
