Dry Eye

"Dry eye" is a general term that applies to all circumstances where there is poor lubrication of the eye, affecting the eyelids, the tear film, to the conjunctiva and cornea, together called ocular surface. The term covers both situations of low amount of tears, poor quality, or excessive evaporation thereof. The symptoms of "dry eye" are varied and include burning, stinging, redness, itching, grittiness and discomfort when performing tasks that require visual fixation as reading, driving or operating any type of display.
Treatment is usually lengthy and sometimes for all life, always keep in mind what are the main causes tear balance and achieve lasting symptomatic relief. A diagnosis by a specialist through a series of eye tests and, occasionally, a general analysis is essential to diagnose the disease and prevent serious complications.
