Professor Joaquin Barraquer

Dr. Rafael Barraquer
The Research Chair in Ophthalmology "Joaquín Barraquer" (CJBIO) is a university institution that was founded in November 2000 as a joint initiative from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and Institut Universitari Barraquer (IUB), with the aim of promoting research, development and innovation (R + D + i) in ophthalmology. It coordinates the work of researchers, residents and guests, continuing clinical and basic lines established from its foundation.
The governing bodies are defined by a Joint Committee composed by:
UAB: The Rector or Vice Chancellor of Health Institutions Relations, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and the Director of the Department of Surgery.
IUB: The Executive Director, the Teaching Director and a member of its Governing Board. The Titular and Director of the CJBIO since its foundation and by appointment of the Joint Commission is Dr. Rafael I. Barraquer, and its activity is being managed by Dr. Ralph Michael as Research Coordinator.
