Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Navarra (1970), he became specialist in Ophthalmology in 1974. Coordinator of the Glaucoma Department at Centro de Oftalmología Barraquer, he has got a long experience in different laser and surgical procedures for the treatment of glaucoma.

He carries out an educational labour at the Barraquer Institute, and he has participated in numerous meetings, courses and conferences about glaucoma.

He is a member of various medical societies, and in 2008 he was appointed Member of Honor by the Canarian Group Ultrasur, in recognition of his scientific and human personality.
