Doctor in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Guayaquil, Ecuador (1976). When she finished the career he spent one year working as Country Doctor in Ecuador. Between 1981 and 1989 he served as surgeon-ophthalmologist at the Hospital Dr. Teodoro Maldonado (Guayaquil), and in 1989 he joined Centro de Oftalmología Barraquer, carrying out his activity in the Neuro-ophthalmologic and Medical Retina Units, specializing in ultrasound and Ocular Electrophysiology and Echographies.

In 1994 he made a stay at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute (USA), to go deeper in ocular ultrasonography. He is a member of various medical societies and he has participated in numerous courses and congresses in this field.
