Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (1978), specialist in Ophthalmology (1980), he won his doctorate from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) in 1992. He works presently in Centro de Oftalmología Barraquer in Medical Retina and Neuro.ophthalmologyUnits and Medical Retina Neuro-ophthalmology and he is specialized in Ocular Echography and Electrophysiology.

He also develops some teaching activity at the Institut Universitari Barraquer and has been monitoring several doctoral theses of students from around the world.

Among the various awards he has received, it is to note the Amade Medal, delivered by Her Majesty Queen Sofia in 1981.
