Dr. Juan Pedro Álvarez de Toledo and Dr. Javier Elizalde were called to be “examiners” for the oral part of the European Board of Ophthalmology (EBO) exam held in Paris each year. To earn this honour, their CVs were evaluated. The EBO (European Board of Ophthalmology) was founded in London in 1992. It is a permanent working group of the Ophthalmology Subspecialty Section of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS). Each year it holds an exam for the official diploma as a specialist in ophthalmology recognised in Europe. This year Dr. Gonzalo García de Oteyza and Dr Sarah Karam (both 4th year residents who are finishing their training at the COB) sat the exam along with hundreds of other European candidates. Dr. Juan Pedro Álvarez de Toledo examined the refractive and cataract surgery areas of the exam and Dr. Javier Elizalde assessed the pathology and vitreoretinal surgery part.
