From 30 November to 1 December, the 4th Retina Summit was held at the Barraquer Ophthalmology Centre. It is a bespoke course organised by the Barraquer Institute and Novartis Pharmaceuticals, and coordinated by Dr. Santiago Abengoechea and Dr. José Lamarca. Ophthalmologists from a range of countries signed up including Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Kenya and Malaysia.

The programme delved deep into pathologies like diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration (AMD), retinal artery occlusion and pathological myopia. During the course the 3D simulator for ophthalmology surgery was introduced. The course ended with a 3D visualisation of retina surgery and live surgery.

To conclude, this new Retina Summit event was a forum for exchanging knowledge and experience, aimed at sharing information and introducing the latest scientific and clinical breakthroughs.
