Barraquer Ophthalmology Centre receives patients from all over the world every year. Our select medical team is highly regarded throughout the world and is divided into 11 ophthalmic subspecialisms. They provide the patient with treatment for all kinds of eye conditions. The medical team is complemented by internal medicine doctors and professionals in other specialisms, so we can offer comprehensive, personalised and maximum quality care.

Our Centre has a department exclusively for international patient care, providing personalised support, answering questions and facilitating bureaucratic procedures and medical paperwork. In addition, we anticipate your needs and make available all the services you require for your stay:

  • Multilingual staff: English, French, Italian, Arabic, German, Spanish and Catalan.
  • Personalised follow-up in your language before, during and after your stay as a patient.
  • Team of interpreters.

As soon as we receive your question or consultation request, our department will start to work with the medical team to study your case, answer your questions and provide you with a bespoke plan to optimise your stay. In addition, our team plays a very important role in facilitating bureaucratic procedures. It goes without saying that we always provide treatment in line with your culture, with maximum flexibility and confidentiality.

  • If you would like answers to queries related to the paperwork to complete as an international patient or you have medical questions, please send us your question via email to international@barraquer.com. A member of the international patient care department will get back to you promptly.

  • Yes, the Barraquer Centre has a team of interpreters for all languages. If you require this service, please indicate so at the time of requesting your appointment and the international patient care department will assign one to you. In this case, you will have exclusive use of the interpreter during your whole stay. They will accompany you even if you have to have surgery in the operating theatre.

  • Barraquer Ophthalmology Centre provides accommodation for patients who have to be admitted, which is why the stay depends on the duration and management required by each case. However, we always provide our international patients with the best recommendations to optimise their stay, so that both you and your relatives enjoy the most comfortable option.

  • Your relatives can accompany you for your whole stay. However, if you are admitted, only one person can stay overnight with you, as the rooms are not large enough for more people.

  • Yes, Barraquer Ophthalmology Centre is located in a central area of Barcelona where there are plenty of different accommodation options. We will recommend some nearby hotels and apartments that provide special rates for our patients.   • Yes, Barraquer Ophthalmology Centre offers a private chauffeur-driven transport service for every patient who requests it, for pick-up at the airport or to get around during your stay.   • Yes, all patients of Barraquer Ophthalmology Centre receive a medical report of their case and they can request it any language whatsoever.

  • Yes, Barraquer Ophthalmology Centre meets the dietary requirements of all its patients, whether they are for medical reasons, intolerances, religion or other preferences.
