Designed for the professionals of today
This Master's degree programme has been developed with the aim of exhaustively reviewing the latest advances in the diagnosis and treatment of pathologies of the posterior segment of the eye.
The structure of the content is adapted to the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), backed by ECTS credits. It consists of online teaching units through our Virtual Classroom and streaming sessions, with which you will update your knowledge in a comfortable way and without renouncing the maximum scientific rigor, being able to control some factors such as the place, time and workspace.
Throughout the whole training programme, the participants have the assistance of Barraquer Ophthalmology Centre and the supervision of a first class medical team who will support them throughout the learning process.
To obtain the postgraduate qualification, you must undertake a research paper supervised by one of our ophthalmologists and a specialist from the Barraquer Research Department.
The master's degree in Pathology and Surgery of the Posterior Segment of the Eye has a duration of 8 months and has been adapted to this exceptional period as a consequence of the Covid-19 pandemic, changing the face-to-face sessions to online learning, so that it can be carried out from home with maximum guarantees.
The program consists of eight modules, seven of them with streaming sessions, all of them with exclusive teaching material in our virtual classroom.

The Master's Degree in the Posterior Segment has been specifically designed for house officers in ophthalmology (STR) and medical doctors who have completed their specialty registrar training. A high level of Spanish is a requirement for this Master's Degree.
Residents of non-Spanish speaking countries will be asked to present an official certificate (C1 in DELE) if they have this document. Otherwise, during the personal interview a test will be given to assess your level.
Admissions and certificates
The admissions period is from May to October 25. The admission dates may vary depending on the year.
To start your admission process, the first step is to fill out the duly provided pre-registration form which you will receive via email.
Once your programme is finished, the Barraquer Institute will issue you with a certificate as proof of your completion of the Master's Degree in Pathology and Surgery of the Posterior Segment of the Eye and will provide you with the steps to apply for the qualification from the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
