The Barraquer Foundation has recently published its activity report for the 2023 and 2024 financial years, now available on the Foundation’s social media and website. Our president, Professor Rafael I. Barraquer, has taken the opportunity to review the trajectory of our foundation over the past few years, during which it has focused mainly on local action while maintaining certain initiatives in the field of international cooperation.
The program “Mirem per tu” (“We Look Out for You”), launched in mid-2019, has taken on a central role in the organization’s healthcare activity, aimed at improving the visual health of the most vulnerable groups in our society.
In the past two years, we have provided ophthalmological treatments to nearly 400 beneficiaries at the Barraquer Ophthalmology Centre, offered optometric treatments to more than 900 people at General Optica stores, and organized 13 visual health screening days at the facilities of our partner social organizations, where we attended to 380 children and young people. The results are, without a doubt, highly positive, as we have helped improve the quality of life of more than 1,600 people of all ages. In the current fiscal year, we are developing a new strategic plan to boost the Foundation’s activity and enhance its visibility. We begin this new stage with enthusiasm and confidence that the Barraquer Foundation will continue to grow and help improve the visual health of an ever-wider group of people in need.
