The Barraquer Foundation has incorporated WIVI Visión into its Board of Trustees in order to continue promoting a model of ophthalmology that brings together innovation, medical excellence and social commitment to the most vulnerable people.
The Barraquer Foundation reaffirms its purpose: that good vision should not be a privilege, but a universal right. With the incorporation of WIVI Visión into its Board of Trustees, the Foundation takes a step forward in integrating technology as a tool for social transformation, placing it at the service of the most vulnerable groups. The collaboration between the two organisations reflects a shared conviction: that innovation, when aligned with human commitment, can generate real and sustainable changes in people’s visual health.
WIVI Visión, a company specialising in data-based solutions to improve visual efficiency, contributes its scientific and technological expertise to strengthen the Foundation’s care and prevention work. This alliance represents much more than an institutional agreement: it is a tangible commitment to bringing ophthalmology to those who need it most. Over the coming months, two free ophthalmological examinations will be carried out (April and May 2026) at the organisation’s social centres, with the aim of identifying and treating visual problems in people in vulnerable situations. Initiatives such as these show that technology can be a tool for inclusion and equity.
For the Barraquer Foundation, medical excellence is understood not only as a clinical standard, but also as a value that is translated into charitable action. The combination of knowledge, innovation and social awareness makes it possible to move towards a more precise, preventive and humane ophthalmology. With the participation of WIVI Visión, the Foundation consolidates a model in which scientific rigour and empathy work together to guarantee accessible, equitable and high-quality visual care.
This new stage reinforces the Foundation’s mission: to transform medical knowledge into real social benefits. Every examination, every project and every partnership helps to make a future possible in which all people can look after their visual health, regardless of their economic or social situation. Because sight not only allows us to look, but also to understand and connect with the world around us.
