On September 22, the Barraquer Foundation, as part of the Mirem per tu program, organized a day of comprehensive eye check-ups at the facilities of the ASSÍS reception centre, a private organization that has been working for more than 20 years helping homeless people in the city of Barcelona.

A total of 25 people were visited, 12 of whom will go to a General Optica store of their choice to undergo a more exhaustive eye examination, determine the exact prescription and get glasses that allow them to solve their vision problems. We also detected 6 cases of users with possible ocular pathologies, who will be seen soon at the Barraquer Ophthalmology Centre by the appropriate specialist in each case.

The day, the first to be held since the arrival of the pandemic in March 2020, was an organizational success, especially thanks to the extraordinary work of our ASSÍS colleagues, who greatly facilitated the work, and the collaboration of the persons attended, who were very participatory at all times.

We are especially grateful for the significant contribution of doctors Halima Berrada and Carla Caballero, both MIRs from the Barraquer Ophthalmology Centre, and Cristina Prieto, optometrist from the Francesc Macià store of General Optica.

In October, if all goes well, we will go to one of the Pere Tarrés Foundation centres to check the visual health of a group of boys and girls from the Raval neighbourhood to give continuity to the social work of our Foundation.

We will continue to inform you!
