The alliance includes treatment for complex cases, specialized training, and research.

At Barraquer, we have formalized a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Health and Population of Egypt, within the framework of the institutional collaboration promoted by the President of Egypt. This agreement reaffirms our commitment to consolidating and expanding international cooperation in the healthcare field.

The Egyptian representation at the event was led by Dr. Hazem Abdullah Al-Nashar, Director of the Memorial Institute for Ophthalmic Research, which operates under the General Authority for Teaching Hospitals and Institutes, on behalf of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population. On our side, the Memorandum was signed by Professor Rafael I. Barraquer, President and Director of the Barraquer Ophthalmology Center.

Promoting Excellence in Ophthalmic Care

Through this agreement, we will work to help improve the quality of ophthalmic care and eye surgery provided to the Egyptian population, particularly in the treatment of complex cases both in Egypt and in Barcelona, through the transfer of our knowledge and clinical expertise. We will also collaborate in strengthening diagnostic, treatment, and prevention services for eye diseases and vision disorders, as well as in the exchange of medical experience and leading clinical practices.

Training, Research, and Scientific Exchange as Strategic Pillars

The Memorandum also includes initiatives aimed at training healthcare personnel, with the goal of strengthening the skills of ophthalmologists and technical staff. It further provides for the development of joint research projects in accordance with current Egyptian legislation, leveraging our highly specialized technology and equipment.

Planned actions include the organization of scientific congresses and specialized workshops.

To ensure effective and sustainable implementation, both parties agreed to establish a joint monitoring committee.
